Troops of Sector 2 under Operation UDO KA, part of Operation Eastern Sanity, have arrested five suspects in Ebonyi State over their alleged involvement in the killing of a police officer in Delta State.
The operation was carried out in the early hours of Tuesday, April 21, 2026, following credible intelligence that led troops to a suspected hideout in Nwofe, Izzi Local Government Area.
In a statement issued by the Nigerian Army, the Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, Lt. Col. Olabisi Ayeni, said the raid targeted a criminal network linked to violent attacks on security personnel.
According to the statement, troops arrested a suspected IPOB/ESN kingpin identified as “Calamity,” along with four other members of the group.
The suspects are believed to be connected to an attack on police officers at Okuku-Igbo in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State on February 26, 2026. During the incident, one police officer was killed, another was injured, and two AK-47 rifles were reportedly taken by the attackers.
The Army said the group relocated to Ebonyi State after intensified security operations in Delta, where they allegedly established a new base to continue their activities.
