The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has approved the immediate deployment of a special forces unit known as the Chief of Army Staff Intervention Battalion to Plateau State to confront the renewed wave of violence in the area.
A statement issued on Tuesday by the Media Information Officer of Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace, Captain Chinonso Oteh, confirmed that the troops have already arrived in the state and have been assigned to carry out aggressive operations against terrorists and other criminal groups.
The statement described the deployment as a major boost in the fight against insecurity in Plateau and the wider North-Central region.
According to the release, the troops were received at the Headquarters of 3 Division, Nigerian Army, where the General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander of Operation Enduring Peace, Major General Folusho Oyinlola, represented by the Chief of Staff of the operation, Brigadier General Senlong Sule, welcomed them and charged them to act decisively in their mission.
Oyinlola reportedly urged the battalion to remain firm and effective in executing offensive operations targeted at terror groups disturbing peace in the state.

The deployment follows a series of attacks in Plateau State, with reports indicating that on February 7, four people, including a woman, were killed in Ding’ak village, Mushere district of Bokkos Local Government Area, allegedly by armed militia.
The military commander also appealed to residents not to panic over increased troop movements and the presence of heavy military equipment in different parts of the state.
He thanked the public for their continued support and called on citizens to provide timely and credible intelligence that could help security forces locate and neutralise criminal elements, as efforts continue to restore peace across Plateau State.
