Asue Ighodalo elected as Edo State PDP Governorship Candidate in Landslide Victory

 

 

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Member Asue Ighodalo emerged as the party's governorship candidate in Edo State for the upcoming November 12 poll. He secured 577 votes, defeating other aspirants, including Anselm Ojezua, Arthur Esele, Osaro Onaiwu, Martins Uhomoibhi, Hadizat Umoru, and Felix Akhabue, who all scored zero.

Deputy Governor Shaibu received one vote, with six votes declared void while former House of Representatives member Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama stepped down for Ighodalo. The primary was monitored by officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), with 585 accredited delegates present.

 

The Chief Returning Officer, Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State, declared Ighodalo as the candidate, following the powers vested in him by the PDP National Working Committee. Lawal was assisted by Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and Senator James Manager.

Ighodalo expressed gratitude to Governor Obaseki and the people of Edo State, promising to appoint youths into his government if elected, and build upon the foundation laid by the current administration.
