Autopsy Results for Mohbad’s Death Expected in Three Weeks

Mohbad

Dr. Richard Somiari, Director of the Lagos State DNA and Forensic Centre, announced on Wednesday that the results of an autopsy conducted on the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, would be available in the next three to four weeks. This assurance was given during his testimony at a coroner's inquest into the singer's death.

The witness was cross-examined by the defense counsel during the inquest. Mohbad, who was 27 years old, passed away on September 12, 2023, and was buried the following day. His death sparked controversy, leading the Lagos State Government to initiate a coroner's inquest.

The inquest, which began on October 13, 2023, is being held at the Ikorodu Magistrates' Court. Dr. Somiari informed the Coroner, Magistrate Adedayo Shotobi, that the initial autopsy results are expected in three to four weeks, with further confirmation needed to authenticate the cause of death.

Regarding security and monitoring of the autopsy samples, Dr. Somiari assured the public that there are procedures in place to ensure their safety. He explained that they have secure storage facilities for the samples and a process for monitoring samples sent abroad.

In his testimony, Mr. Sadiq Ayobami, also known as Spendy, stated that he last saw the deceased the day before his death. They had attended a concert in Ikorodu together and returned to Spendy's house before Mohbad's departure. Mrs. Abiodun Kolawole, representing the African Women Lawyers Association, urged the deceased's parents to address their grievances regarding the paternity of Mohbad's child in court rather than on social media.

Magistrate T. A. Shotobi adjourned the case until April 15, directing all parties involved to be present on that day.
