Gunmen have tragically killed a lecturer, Olowojobi Yinka, from Babcock University Illisan at an event center in Iperu, the hometown of Ogun Governor Dapo Abiodun. The attack, which occurred last Friday at Ajadeh Event Centre on Sagamu Road in Iperu, also left two others injured.
According to reports, the gunmen, numbering eight and dressed in black, stormed the event center around 9:20 pm, shooting sporadically at guests. Amidst the chaos, the assailants attempted to abduct the Babcock lecturer but fatally shot him in the chest when he resisted.
Ogun Police spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, disclosed that a security guard, Awada Ishaya, who had been employed just two weeks prior, was arrested in connection with the incident. The police are intensifying efforts to arrest the remaining culprits and secure the release of any kidnapped victims.
The lecturer was rushed to Babcock University Teaching Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The police are continuing their investigation, and further updates will be provided as the situation unfolds.
