Suspected bandits have attacked an LEA Primary School in Kuriga town, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, abducting several pupils on Thursday morning. Eyewitnesses in the area estimated the number of abducted pupils to be around 100, including the headteacher and other staff members.

The incident, which occurred around 8:20 am after the morning assembly, caused panic and chaos among residents. According to reports, the junior and secondary sections of the school had relocated to a building inside Kuriga town a few years ago due to worsening insecurity, abandoning their former structure outside the town.

Residents described how pupils ran out of their classes upon sighting the assailants on the school premises. The abductees were then reportedly marched into the forest. As of now, there has been no official reaction from the state government, with attempts to reach the Overseeing Commissioner of the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, and the State Police Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, proving unsuccessful.
