Benue Assembly Approves Removal of Chief Judge Maurice Ikpambese

The Benue State House of Assembly has approved the removal of the state’s Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Maurice Ikpambese, citing allegations of financial impropriety and abuse of office.

In a resolution passed during the plenary session, the Assembly directed that the next most senior judge be sworn in as Acting Chief Judge, pending the outcome of a thorough investigation into the allegations.

Lawmakers emphasized their commitment to upholding judicial integrity and ensuring accountability within the state’s judicial system. The investigation into Justice Ikpambese's conduct is expected to be comprehensive and transparent, with findings to be made public upon conclusion.
