The Benue State Independent Electoral Commission has rescheduled the local government elections from July 6 to November 16, 2024. This decision was announced by the Commission's Chairman, John Chen, during a press briefing on Friday in Makurdi.

Chen explained that logistical challenges prompted the postponement. He emphasized the need for more time to prepare adequately and procure necessary election materials, which had not yet been acquired.
