Controversial cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has been released from the Kirikiri Correctional Centre. Bobrisky regained his freedom on Monday around 10 am after serving a six-month imprisonment.
In April, Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos sentenced Bobrisky for Naira abuse, with no option of a fine. The sentence was intended as a stern warning against the misuse of the Nigerian currency.
Bobrisky’s incarceration began on March 24, the same day he was arrested, and he has now completed his sentence. The Nation reported that the sentence aimed to address the issue of currency abuse and its consequences.
With his release, Bobrisky returns to the public eye following his high-profile legal battle.
