Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos has sentenced popular cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, known as Bobrisky, to six months' imprisonment with no option of a fine. The judgment was delivered on Friday, April 12.
According to The Nation, Bobrisky pleaded guilty to the charge of abusing the Nigerian currency.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had filed a six-count charge against him on Thursday, April 4, including allegations of money laundering and naira abuse.
On Friday, April 5, Bobrisky was arraigned in court by the EFCC on charges of abusing the Naira and money laundering. The court, however, dismissed the money laundering charges but convicted him for Naira Abuse after he admitted to the offense.
