Boeing 737 Experiences Multiple Tire Bursts During Takeoff at Yola Airport

A Boeing 737 aircraft carrying 119 passengers and six crew members experienced a significant incident late Sunday at Yola Airport. The aircraft lost four tires during its takeoff roll en route to Abuja, according to the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB).

 

The NSIB reported that the pilot heard a loud bang, which was identified as the bursting of the rear gear tires. Subsequently, two additional tires also burst while the aircraft attempted to taxi off the runway, leaving the aircraft completely disabled.

NSIB spokesperson Mrs. Bimbo Okawumi Oladeji confirmed that no injuries were reported among the passengers and crew. She stated, "Max Air’s flight NGL1649, a Boeing 737 with registration 5N-ADB, was cleared for takeoff when the incident occurred."

 

A go-team led by NSIB Director General Captain Alex Badeh Jr. is scheduled to visit the site to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.
