Brotherly Tragedy: Bauchi Man Arrested for Alleged Fratricide

The Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended Isyaku Babale, 30, for allegedly stabbing his brother to death in Bauchi Metropolis. According to SP Ahmed Wakil, the command's spokesperson, Babale was arrested following a report received by the Divisional Police Officer, Township Police Station, Bauchi. Detectives were dispatched to the scene where they found the victim, who was rushed to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital but was pronounced dead by a medical doctor.

The incident occurred on March 31, 2024, at about 0400hrs, after an argument between the brothers. The altercation started when the younger brother asked his elder brother to stop consuming cold patch liquid, known as ‘Sholi’, in their room due to its unpleasant odour. This request led to a fight, during which Babale allegedly stabbed his brother in the stomach with a knife.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the brothers frequently engaged in fights using dangerous weapons. Commissioner of Police Auwal Musa has ordered a thorough investigation into the incident to uncover more motives behind Babale's actions before prosecution.
