The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially opened an investigation into the troubling incident at Al Abraq International Airport in Libya, where the Nigerian Super Eagles were detained for over 14 hours. The organization announced on Monday, October 14, that it will hold those responsible accountable through its disciplinary board.

In a statement from CAF's communications department, the governing body expressed concern over the conditions the Nigerian national football team and its technical staff were subjected to. CAF confirmed that they are in contact with both Libyan and Nigerian authorities to ensure a thorough investigation.

CAF emphasized that the matter has been referred to its Disciplinary Board, which will determine the appropriate action against any parties found to have violated CAF's statutes and regulations.

The Super Eagles, who were stranded in Libya, have since been granted passage to leave the country after enduring more than 14 hours of uncertainty at the airport.
