At the 2025 Sir Ahmadu Bello National Annual Memorial Conference held in Kaduna, Dr. Mainasara Umar Kogo, Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), urged aggressive military action against bandits and terrorists in Northern Nigeria. He recommended targeted bombardments of nine key forest hideouts used by terrorists, including Sambisa (Borno), Mandara Mountains (near Lake Chad), and Birnin Gwari (Kaduna), among others.
Speaking on the theme, "Nigeria’s Leadership for National Cohesion and Stability under Contemporary Governance," Dr. Kogo stressed that dismantling these hideouts would cripple terrorist operations. He further proposed transforming the affected areas into industrial agricultural zones to create jobs, boost economic activities, and reduce hunger.
“We must take drastic measures to address the security challenges facing our nation. These forests should become hubs for industries like textiles and food production, generating employment and foreign exchange,” he said.
Dr. Kogo also advocated for an overhaul of Nigeria’s security architecture, suggesting amendments to constitutional sections governing internal security and calling for specialized security agencies such as a National Border Security Police and a National Cyber Crime Police.
Ahmed Abdullahi, National President of the Gamji Heritage Association, called for unity in tackling Nigeria's challenges, reflecting on Sir Ahmadu Bello’s legacy of transformative projects. Other dignitaries, including Ambassador Ibrahim Mai Sule and Prof. Abubakar Saddique Mohammed, highlighted the need for decisive leadership to address insecurity, economic instability, and social cohesion.
The conference provided a platform for reflecting on Northern Nigeria’s history while proposing actionable steps toward national stability and economic revival.
