CDS Orders Military Support for Borno Flood Victims, Pledges Comprehensive Aid

In response to the devastating flood disaster in Borno State, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has directed the Theater Commander of Operation Hadin Kai to provide immediate assistance to those affected. The directive was issued in a statement on Wednesday by Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, the Director of Defence Information.

Expressing deep sorrow over the loss of lives, the destruction of property, and the displacement of thousands due to the flooding from the Alo Dam, General Musa extended condolences on behalf of the Armed Forces of Nigeria to the families of the victims and the government of Borno State.

"The Armed Forces of Nigeria stands in solidarity with the people of Borno State and will ensure all affected communities are evacuated to safety and, in addition, will give support to the ongoing rescue and rehabilitation efforts," General Musa stated. He also assured that the military would collaborate with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and other relevant authorities to provide immediate relief and support to the affected communities.

The CDS emphasized the military's commitment to working alongside federal and state efforts to alleviate the suffering of those impacted by this tragic event, expressing hopes for the speedy recovery of the injured and praying for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives.
