Chief of Army Staff Commends Troops for Commitment in Security Operations

Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), has praised the dedication and resilience of Nigerian Army troops in combating terrorism and other security challenges in the country. He commended the troops during an operational visit to the 23 Brigade, Nigerian Army, at the Gibson Jalo Cantonment in Yola, Adamawa State.

In a statement by Maj.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, Lagbaja lauded the troops for their sacrifices, which have contributed to safeguarding the nation's territorial integrity. He emphasized the importance of firsthand assessment of troops' welfare and operational readiness, which motivated his visit.

Lagbaja highlighted the Nigerian Army's transformational drive and the Federal Government's support through the provision of essential combat enablers and welfare schemes. He noted that these efforts have enhanced the troops' operational effectiveness and morale.

The COAS also mentioned that the Federal Government has approved funds to settle the backlog of Group Life Assurance claims dating back to 2012. He assured the troops that challenges identified during the visit would be promptly addressed.

During a courtesy visit to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, Lagbaja expressed gratitude to the state government and people for their support in maintaining peace. He encouraged continued support for the troops to enhance their operations. Governor Fintiri, in response, praised the reduction in crime in the state and pledged ongoing support for the Nigerian Army and other security agencies in Adamawa State.
