The Gbadewolu of Araromi, Oba Lukman Adebambo, has requested urgent intervention from the Lagos State Government, Commissioner of Police, and Ibeju-Lekki Local Government following a clash with masqueraders during an annual festival featuring the Jigbo masquerade in Ibeju, Lagos.

The altercation led to chaos, prompting police from the Elemoro Area Command and Akodo Division to intervene, using tear gas and firing shots to restore order. Oba Adebambo, sensing an imminent crisis, had previously petitioned the authorities and sponsored a radio announcement to prevent the clash.

The monarch stated that the masqueraders were not from Araromi and had entered the community to cause trouble, despite his warnings and efforts to prevent their entry. He expressed dismay at their actions, including attacks on himself, his secretary, and residents, resulting in the destruction of property.

Oba Adebambo emphasized that Araromi is independent of Ibeju and demanded prosecution for the perpetrators and their backers. He warned against further encroachment on his community and urged community leaders in Ibeju to respect their boundaries.
