A Federal High Court in Kano has issued an order preventing the implementation of the alleged suspension of the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, by the Ward executive of Ganduje Ward. Ganduje had filed Suit No. FHC/KN/CS/122/2024 seeking to enforce his right to a fair hearing.

The respondents in the application include the police, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and nine other individuals. The ward executive of Ganduje Ward had purportedly suspended Ganduje last Tuesday over allegations of corruption, but the State Working Committee of the APC in Kano nullified the suspension and sanctioned the ward executives.

A Kano High Court judge, Usman Na’Abba, had upheld the purported suspension on the same day. However, in an ex parte order delivered on Wednesday by the Federal High Court, Judge A.M. Liman stated that the purported suspension should not be implemented until the case is heard and determined.

Judge Liman directed all parties to maintain the status quo ante, specifically referring to the situation before the alleged emergency meeting of the APC Ganduje Ward executives. He also ordered a stay of action in the matter pending the hearing and determination of the substantive application. The judge scheduled April 30 for the hearing of Ganduje's appeal.
