The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Maitama has issued a public summons against former Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello, ordering him to appear in court on October 24. Bello faces a fresh 16-count charge of criminal breach of trust involving N110.4 billion.
Justice Maryanne Anenih granted the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission's (EFCC) request for the summons, citing their inability to serve Bello with the charges filed on September 24. The EFCC is also required to publish the summons in a widely read newspaper and post copies at Bello's last known address and within the court premises.

The charges include Bello and two other defendants, Umar Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu, who are also implicated in the financial misconduct. Bello’s absence on Thursday delayed the scheduled arraignment.
This marks another major legal challenge for Bello following his tenure as Kogi State governor, as the EFCC continues its efforts to bring the case to trial.
