The Court of Appeal, Abuja Division, has upheld Julius Abure as the National Chairman of the Labour Party. In a judgment delivered on Friday by Justice Hamma Barka, a three-member panel confirmed its earlier decision from November 13, 2024, stating that Abure's position as chairman remains intact and has not been overturned by any court.
The ruling addressed two appeals filed by Senator Esther Nenadi Usman, the caretaker committee, and the Independent National Electoral Commission. Justice Barka clarified that the Court of Appeal did not entertain issues of Labour Party leadership, emphasizing that such matters are non-justiciable.
The court further declared any action taken outside of jurisdiction as null and void, rendering the Federal High Court’s October 8, 2024, judgment ineffective. Justice Emeka Nwite’s ruling on the matter was subsequently struck out for lack of jurisdiction.
Reaffirming its November judgment, the appellate court unequivocally stated that Julius Abure remains the legitimate National Chairman of the Labour Party, solidifying his leadership in the party's ongoing activities.
