After prolonged legal proceedings, the Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the final forfeiture of $2.045 million in cash and eight prime properties belonging to former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor, Godwin Emefiele, to the Federal Government. These assets, located in Lagos and Delta states, were deemed by the court to have been acquired with proceeds of alleged criminal activities.
The court's order extends to two share certificates linked to a company associated with Emefiele, which were also determined to be part of the forfeitable assets. This decision marks a significant development in the government’s anti-corruption efforts, as authorities continue to crack down on assets allegedly obtained through financial misconduct.
