The Police Command in Cross River has presented cheques totaling N43 million to the families of 17 deceased officers who died in the line of duty. The cheques were handed over by the State Commissioner of Police, Gyogon Grimah, in Calabar on Wednesday. This initiative is part of the welfare program spearheaded by Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, aimed at supporting serving, retired, and deceased personnel of the force.

Grimah urged the beneficiaries to use the financial support wisely and avoid any family conflicts over the money. "I urge you all to make the best use of the amount for the prosperity of the family, especially the children of the deceased," he said.

The remaining six were arrested for various crimes, including rape, armed robbery, kidnapping, and unlawful possession of arms.

This concerted effort by the Cross River Police Command highlights their commitment to both supporting the families of fallen officers and maintaining law and order in the state.
