A senior officer of the Nigerian Customs Service has died at the National Assembly clinic in Abuja. The officer, whose name has been withheld, was attending a Public Accounts Committee session of the House of Representatives to answer questions related to the ongoing probe of revenue-generating agencies and parastatals.
While responding to the committee's questions, the officer collapsed and was quickly taken to the National Assembly clinic, where he was pronounced dead. A statement from the House spokesman, Akin Rotimi, confirmed the incident and expressed deep regret over the loss.

"It is with deep sadness and regret that we confirm the passing of an esteemed official of the Nigeria Customs Service who was at the National Assembly for an engagement with a House Committee," the statement read. Despite immediate efforts by first responders and medical staff, the officer could not be revived.
Out of respect for the officer's family, his name has not been disclosed. The House extended heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues, acknowledging his significant contributions to the Nigeria Customs Service and the nation. Speaker Tajudeen Abbas expressed his sorrow, saying, "We are deeply saddened by the sudden loss of a dedicated public servant. Our hearts go out to his family during this difficult time."
