Comptroller Bashir noted that over the past six weeks, the Area Command recorded 17 seizures of various items, with a total duty value of N36.9 million. He explained that the smuggling of petrol from Nigeria persists due to high demand and higher prices in neighboring countries like Cameroon and the Benin Republic, despite the repeal of the PMS subsidy.

Bashir emphasized the command's commitment to combating smuggling activities, stating, “We will continue to strengthen our capabilities and carry out operations to counter every move of smugglers until we bring smuggling down completely.”
