The Dangote Group has announced plans to transport refined petroleum products by sea to alleviate road congestion and streamline distribution. Fatima Wali-Abdurrahman, Senior Adviser to the Group President on Special Projects and Strategic Relations, revealed this in a statement on Sunday. The group aims to utilize a newly constructed jetty at the Lekki Free Zone to handle bulk cargoes and transport finished products to various Nigerian ports for distribution.

In addition to reducing pressure on road networks, the company also plans to expand exports to other African countries via seaports. The Dangote Group made the announcement during the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s trade fair, where attendees explored business opportunities across its various units, including the recently operational Dangote Oil Refinery.

Wali-Abdurrahman highlighted the company’s investment in sustainability, noting that Dangote has converted a third of its fleet to compressed natural gas (CNG) to reduce its carbon footprint. She added that the group remains committed to completing the full conversion of its fleet in the coming years.

The President of ACCI, Chief Emeka Obegolu, praised the Dangote Group for its pivotal role in Nigeria’s industrialization and its significant contributions to national revenue. He emphasized that the company’s taxes fund vital infrastructure projects and social programs that benefit millions of Nigerians.
