Dangote Refinery to Refund Customers Over Excess Petrol Charges, Slashes PMS Price to N825/Litre

Dangote

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a refund initiative for customers who purchased Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at rates higher than its advertised prices from key partners – Ardova Plc, Heyden, or MRS – across Nigeria.

This follows the refinery’s recent reduction of its gantry price from N890 per litre to N825 per litre, ensuring that Nigerians benefit directly from the price adjustment in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Dangote Refinery Absorbs N16bn Loss for Price Adjustment

To facilitate this price reduction, the refinery confirmed it would refund N65 per litre on over 200,000 metric tonnes of petrol that marketers previously purchased at the old price of N890 per litre.

“The step, effective February 27, 2025, ensures that none of our valued business partners will suffer a loss due to the price change. More importantly, it ensures that the new, lower rate takes immediate effect nationwide for the benefit of Nigerians,” the statement read.

The refinery also urged all fuel marketers sourcing stock from it to pass on the benefits of the price reduction to consumers, condemning any form of price exploitation.

Refunds for Overcharged Customers

To prevent excessive profiteering, the Dangote Refinery warned against selling fuel above the approved rate, stating that consumers who purchased petrol at inflated prices from its official partners can request a refund.

“It is both unpatriotic and detrimental to Nigerians for any marketer to purchase at N825 per litre and sell at N945 or more per litre. Consumers who buy fuel above the advertised rate at Ardova Plc (AP), Heyden, or MRS can report to Dangote Refinery with their receipts for a full refund of the excess amount,” the refinery stated.

Official Petrol Prices Set by Dangote Refinery

The new approved petrol prices per litre from Dangote Refinery’s key partners are as follows:

MRS Fuel Stations:

  • N860 in Lagos
  • N870 in the South-West
  • N880 in the North
  • N890 in the South-South and South-East

Heyden & Ardova Plc (AP) Fuel Stations:

  • N865 in Lagos
  • N875 in the South-West
  • N885 in the North
  • N895 in the South-South and South-East

Dangote Refinery expects that with the new N825 gantry price, no Nigerian should pay more than N900 per litre, regardless of location.

Commitment to Energy Affordability & Economic Growth

The refinery reaffirmed its commitment to delivering high-quality, eco-friendly fuel that enhances vehicle performance and public health.

“Our commitment aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes self-sufficiency in critical sectors like energy. We remain dedicated to supporting Nigeria’s economic growth and ensuring that every Nigerian has access to affordable, high-quality energy solutions,” the statement added.

The Dangote Refinery concluded that this initiative is part of its broader vision for energy security, standing in solidarity with the Nigerian people to provide lasting solutions and a sustainable future.
