Deadly Boko Haram Attack Claims Soldier’s Life in Gujba, Yobe State

Suspected Boko Haram terrorists attacked a military base in Gujba town, Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State, killing a soldier. The attack occurred around midnight on Saturday. Yobe State Police Command spokesman, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, confirmed the incident, stating that the attackers also torched a military patrol vehicle. 

According to reliable local sources, the insurgents arrived in Gujba at midnight, firing shots and attacking the military base. However, they were repelled by troops, who chased them into the surrounding bush. Modu Bahna, a resident of Gujba, described the terrifying experience, saying that many people fled into the bushes to save their lives.

Despite the attack, the terrorists did not harm civilians or loot stores for essential commodities. They only targeted the two patrol vehicles at the military base, resulting in the death of a soldier. Abdulkarim confirmed the incident, stating that troops and the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) engaged the attackers.

The Maiduguri-Damaturu-Gujba-Biu Road has witnessed a resurgence of attacks by suspected Boko Haram terrorists in recent months, highlighting the ongoing security challenges in the region.
