A violent clash between two rival bandit groups over control of mining sites has resulted in the deaths of several individuals. According to reliable intelligence obtained by PRNigeria, the clash occurred between the Jammatu Ansarul Musulmin Biladis Sunna (Ansaru) and Dogo Gide's group of bandits in the Kuyallo area of the Birnin Gwari local government area in Kaduna State.
The clash, described as a battle of supremacy, resulted in casualties on both sides. Mudi, a wanted terrorist leader, and his son Murtala, from Dogo Gide's group, were among those killed. Dogo Gide's side also suffered losses, including close associates and family members.
The rivalry between the two groups is reportedly centered around the control of mining sites in the area. Birnin Gwari is known to have several gold mining sites, with most of the mined products being smuggled out of Nigeria into Niger, indicating strong connections with criminal elements in the Republic of Niger.
A defence intelligence source, confirming the clash, stated that the casualty figures were high on both sides, based on the number of corpses found in the affected areas. The recent clash has raised concerns about potential further attacks in the future, given the presence of Jammatu Ansarul Musulmin Biladis Sunna and ISWAP elements in the Northwest region.
