Defence Minister, Dr. Bello Matawalle, Tasks Guards Brigade to Boost Activity in 2025

MatawalleThe Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Matawalle, has called on the Guards Brigade of the Nigerian Army to enhance its operational activities in 2025 to further strengthen security around the nation's seat of power. Speaking at the 2024 West Africa Social Activities (WASA) event in Abuja, Matawalle emphasized the Federal Government's commitment to equipping the Armed Forces to combat terrorism, banditry, and other forms of criminality effectively.

“The Guards Brigade has been exemplary in securing Abuja and neighboring states. However, we expect even greater activity in the coming year under the leadership of the Brigade Commander,” Matawalle stated. He also lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for prioritizing the Armed Forces' needs to ensure a secure nation.

In a related development, Senator Abdulaziz Yari has expressed optimism that insecurity in Zamfara State and the broader Northwestern region will drastically decline by October 2025. Addressing reporters in Talata-Mafara, Yari highlighted the Federal Government's robust budgetary allocation to security under President Tinubu's administration, coupled with the deployment of advanced military equipment to the region.

“The Northwest has been a hotspot for criminal activities, but recent military reinforcements and strategic planning will significantly reduce these challenges. By the next rainy season, farmers will confidently return to their fields without fear of attacks,” Yari assured.

The remarks from both leaders underline a strong resolve to address Nigeria's security challenges comprehensively, signaling hope for improved stability across the nation.
