Former Cross River Governor Donald Duke has warned that Nigeria’s inflation rate of 33.40% won't drop significantly unless the federal government addresses high energy costs. Speaking at a career conference in Abuja, Duke emphasized that rising fuel and electricity prices are driving inflation, urging the government to leverage the country's abundant energy resources.
Duke highlighted Nigeria's potential to control domestic oil prices and harness flared gas to ease inflation, calling for immediate action to reduce energy costs. He pointed out that the country's current inflation decline, though slight, is the first improvement since December 2022.
Addressing the teens, Duke stressed the importance of discovering their purpose, noting that Nigeria is a land of immense blessings with untapped energy resources. He encouraged them to harness their creative potential, while Pastor Eva Azodoh urged the youth to learn from role models who have succeeded through integrity and hard work.
The event, hosted by the Redeemed Christian Church of God, featured spiritual presentations and a performance by 15-year-old saxophonist Demilade Adepegba, inspiring teenagers to find their niche in a promising Nigeria.
