Edo Governor Wastes No Time: Appoints Kassim Otono as New Oil & Gas Adviser 72 Hours After Scandal

Edo

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has swiftly appointed Barrister Kassim Otono as the new Special Adviser on Oil and Gas, just 72 hours after suspending Felix Isere over a fundraising scandal.

Isere was relieved of his duties after allegedly soliciting funds without authorisation for a proposed Oil and Gas Summit slated for August 7, 2025. He has been ordered to refund all monies collected from donors in relation to the event.

The appointment of Otono was confirmed in a statement released by the Secretary to the State Government, Musa Ikhilor, on Tuesday.

Otono, a seasoned legal expert, is a Senior Partner at Kay & Kay Legal, a firm known for its specialization in Commercial, Real Estate, and Oil & Gas Law and Practice. His swift appointment signals the governor’s intent to maintain momentum in the state's energy sector while restoring integrity to the office.
