The Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has criticized Governor Monday Okpebholo for allegedly claiming credit for projects initiated and completed during the tenure of his predecessor, Godwin Obaseki.
In a statement issued by Chris Nehikhare, Publicity Secretary of the Edo PDP Caretaker Committee, the party called the governor's announcement of the flag-off of the 7.5km Temboga Road project misleading, asserting that the road had already been completed by the Obaseki-led administration.
“It is utterly preposterous and condemnable that Senator Okpebholo and his administration are starting on a dishonest footing by deceiving Edo people with false claims of initiating completed projects,” Nehikhare stated.
The PDP urged Governor Okpebholo to focus on fulfilling his campaign promises and initiating projects that align with his administration’s vision for Edo State. The party labeled his alleged attempts to rewrite the achievements of Obaseki’s administration as disingenuous, calling for greater accountability and transparency.
The criticism marks an early clash between the PDP and the new governor, signaling heightened political tensions in Edo State.
