The newly sworn-in Deputy Governor of Edo State, Marvellous Omobayo, took his oath of office on Monday, administered by Chief Judge Daniel Okungbowa. Omobayo, an engineer with a notable background in the oil and gas sector, expressed gratitude to Governor Godwin Obaseki and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leadership for the appointment.
In his inaugural speech, Omobayo commended Governor Obaseki's determination to complete his second term strongly, aiming to leave a legacy of peace, unity, progress, and development in Edo State. He highlighted the governor's commitment to ensuring a smooth transition for the next PDP administration, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the state's leadership position in Nigeria.
Born on July 19, 1986, Omobayo is a native of Akoko Edo Local Government Area of the state. He holds a B.Eng Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and an MSc in Public Administration from the University of Benin, making him well-equipped for his role in public administration. Omobayo is a registered member of both the Nigerian Society of Engineers and the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria.
With a background as a Senior Maintenance Engineer in Dresser Wayne West Africa Limited, Omobayo has demonstrated his professional expertise in the South-South region, providing exceptional services and contributing to business growth. Additionally, he has been actively involved in local politics, fostering trust among the people and mobilizing them for common goals, despite facing opposition.
