Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Enugu Zonal Command, have apprehended 37 suspected internet fraudsters in Awka, the capital of Anambra State. The arrests were made during a sting operation at Commissioners’ Quarters, Ifite, following credible intelligence linking the suspects to online scams.
According to the EFCC’s statement, the operation led to the recovery of six luxury cars, numerous laptops, and mobile phones, which are believed to have been used in the suspects' fraudulent activities.
The anti-graft agency reaffirmed its commitment to tackling cybercrime, emphasizing that it remains resolute in its mission to curb illegal activities threatening the nation's integrity.
The EFCC also issued a warning to cybercriminals, assuring the public that it would intensify efforts to rid society of internet fraud and other related offenses.
