The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended and detained the controversial cross-dresser known as Bobrisky, whose real name is Idris Okuneye, for alleged abuse of the Nigerian currency, spraying of naira notes, and currency mutilation. Bobrisky was arrested in Lagos on Wednesday night and has been held at the Lagos Command of the EFCC since then.

In an official statement on its page, the EFCC announced that its operatives from the Lagos Zonal Command had initiated an investigation into Bobrisky's actions. This followed a video report showing Bobrisky spraying and flaunting wads of new Naira notes at the premiere of a movie, "Ajakaju," produced by Nollywood actress and producer Eniola Ajao at Film One Circle Mall in Lekki, Lagos, on March 24, 2024.

Further investigations revealed that Bobrisky had allegedly committed similar offences at other event centers and parties on different occasions. Upon being invited by the Commission, Bobrisky arrived at the Lagos Zonal Command of the EFCC on the morning of Wednesday, April 4, 2024, for questioning and provided his statements voluntarily.

The EFCC stated that Bobrisky would be charged to court once the investigation is concluded.
