The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is preparing to charge former Kwara State Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed for allegedly diverting more than N10 billion. Ahmed recently appeared at the Ilorin zonal office after being invited by the anti-graft agency, marking his third interrogation regarding the case. The EFCC initiated the investigation in 2019, focusing on the alleged mismanagement of funds during Ahmed's tenure as governor from 2011 to 2019.

According to a source within the agency, Ahmed was questioned about the diversion and mismanagement of N10 billion from the Kwara State Government's funds. The EFCC contacted the ex-governor and requested his voluntary appearance at the Ilorin office, which he complied with. The agency aims to complete the investigation swiftly to avoid jurisdiction-related delays and intends to try the ex-governor in Kwara State.

Ahmed's spokesperson, Wahab Oba, confirmed that the former governor's visit to the EFCC was a routine matter. An official statement regarding the interrogation was expected to be released last night.
