Ese Brume, newly crowned African women’s long jump champion, has set her sights on excelling at the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris after clinching gold at the 23rd African Senior Athletics Championships in Douala, Cameroon. Brume, who described her victory in Douala as competitive but rewarding, expressed excitement at adding another gold to Nigeria's tally.
The Delta State-born athlete, also a Commonwealth champion, soared to victory with a jump of 6.73m, securing her fourth African senior championship title. With a personal best of 7.17m, Brume is no stranger to success, having previously won Olympic bronze and medaled twice at the World Athletics Championships. She is also a five-time African junior champion in long jump.
Looking ahead, Brume plans to join Team Nigeria at their Olympic training camp in Dusseldorf, Germany, accompanied by her coach Yahaya Kayode. She remains focused on enhancing her performance for the Olympics, aiming to bring further glory to Nigeria on the global stage.
