Evans Re-Arraigned for Murder of Police Officers, Attempted Kidnapping of Transport Mogul

Evans

Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, popularly known as Evans, was re-arraigned on Thursday before an Ikeja High Court on charges of murder and attempted kidnapping.

Evans, infamously dubbed "the billionaire kidnapper," appeared alongside his co-defendant, Joseph Emeka, facing a five-count charge relating to the murder of two police officers and the attempted abduction of Chief Obianodo Vincent, the owner of Young Shall Grow Transport Company.

Evans and Co-Defendant Plead Not Guilty

During the court proceedings before Justice Adenike Coker, Evans and Emeka pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against them.

This re-arraignment follows recent revelations that Evans had applied for a plea bargain with the Lagos State Government, seeking leniency and rehabilitation, citing his supposed reformation while in prison.

What’s Next?

With Evans’ plea bargain request under review, the Lagos State authorities must decide whether to consider his bid for reduced sentencing or proceed with a full trial.

Justice Coker adjourned the case to March 20, setting the stage for further legal battles as one of Nigeria’s most notorious crime cases continues to unfold.
