Fatal Crash Claims One Life on Awka-Onitsha Expressway

A tragic motor accident has claimed the life of one individual while leaving two others unharmed opposite the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Command in Nteje, along the Awka-Onitsha expressway in Anambra state. The incident, which occurred around 9:30 am, involved a Toyota Camry with registration number ABJ125JV and a Ford Explorer with registration number ZBL626RL.

Eyewitnesses reported that the driver of the Toyota Camry lost control of the vehicle, crossing into the lane of the Ford Explorer and resulting in a collision on the single-carriageway. Unfortunately, one male adult lost his life in the crash, while two other male adults were rescued without injuries. The witness expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and urged motorists to stay vigilant and maintain full concentration while driving.

The deceased driver was identified as Chiweuba Evaristus Chidiebere, while the driver of the Ford Explorer remains unidentified. The FRSC rescue team from RS5.3 Nteje promptly responded to the scene, transporting the victim to Chira Hospital, where he was confirmed dead by medical personnel. His body has been deposited at the New Jerusalem mortuary in Nteje.

The FRSC team also managed traffic and cleared the obstruction caused by the crash, ensuring the road was safe for other motorists. This incident serves as a somber reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for drivers to exercise caution at all times.
