A contingent of 2,958 pilgrims from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has arrived in Mina, Saudi Arabia, to commence the 2024 Hajj rituals. This group is part of the approximately 2.5 million pilgrims expected to perform this year's pilgrimage in the Holy Land. Dr. Abdullahi Isa Kaura-Mata, chairman of the FCT Ministerial Committee for this year’s Hajj, disclosed this upon their arrival in Mina.

Dr. Kaura-Mata noted that the FCT contingent was transported to Saudi Arabia via 10 flights and emphasized the unique challenges each Hajj exercise presents, affirming that this year is no different. He expressed confidence in the pilgrims' ability to represent Nigeria well and announced that arrangements are in place for their seamless movement to Arafat on Saturday, June 15.

The chairman praised FCT Minister Barrister Nyesom Wike and Minister of State Dr. Mariya Mahmoud for their tremendous support to the pilgrims. He assured that the contingent is prepared to uphold their reputation as good ambassadors of Nigeria.

Mallam Abubakar Adamu Evuti, Director of the FCT Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, echoed this optimism, stating that the thorough preparations will ensure a hitch-free Hajj exercise for all FCT pilgrims.
