FCT Minister Nyesom Wike Arrives in Milan for Official Engagements and Agribusiness Meetings

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, arrived in Milan, Italy, on Wednesday for a series of important official engagements, including a scheduled meeting with the President of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana. The visit also includes engagements with agribusiness investors to explore potential opportunities for collaboration.

Details of the Visit

According to a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, Wike arrived in Milan early on Wednesday morning after departing Abuja on Tuesday night. He was warmly welcomed at the airport by the Charge d’Affaires of the Nigerian Embassy in Italy, Ambassador Mustapha Mohammed.

Strategic Meetings in Milan

Wike’s official visit will include a meeting with Attilio Fontana, the President of the Lombardy Region, on Thursday. The discussions will focus on exploring collaborative opportunities in Agriculture, Vocational Education, and strategic development partnerships between the Lombardy Region and the FCT.

Lombardy, known for being Italy's economic powerhouse, is the first region in terms of economic importance, with a population of around 10 million people. It also ranks as the second most populous region in the European Union and boasts the second-highest GDP within the EU.

Focus on Agribusiness and Vocational Training

During his visit, Wike will engage with agribusiness investors and experts in vocational education to explore new opportunities for growth in these sectors, which are vital to the development of the FCT and Nigeria at large.

Accompanying Delegation

The FCT Minister is accompanied by key officials, including the FCT Mandate Secretaries for Education, Dr. Danlami Hayyo, and Agriculture and Rural Development, Lawan Geidam. Other members of the delegation include Dr. Udo Samuel Atang, Senior Special Assistant on Administration, and Barrister Benedict Daudu, Senior Special Assistant on Legal and Multi-Lateral Cooperation.

This trip is an important step in fostering international partnerships and securing investments that will drive economic development in the Federal Capital Territory.
