FCT Police Arrest 116 Suspects in Abuja Black Spot Raids, Charge 27 to Court

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested 116 suspected criminals during a series of coordinated raids across Abuja aimed at tackling drug-related crimes and public nuisance.

Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, said the raids were carried out by operatives attached to the Anti-Narcotics Section of the Command between August 1 and August 20, 2025.

According to her, the operations targeted notorious black spots in Asokoro, Trademore, Mpape, Kurudu, Kubwa, Gwarimpa, Jikwoyi, Utako, Life Camp, Zuba, and Karshi. The crackdown led to the recovery of various illicit substances, hard drugs, and dried leaves suspected to be cannabis.

Adeh explained that after careful screening, 89 of the suspects were released, while 27 others were charged in court for offences ranging from public nuisance to possession of illicit drugs and substances.

FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao Adewale, commended the operatives for their diligence and assured residents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to maintaining a safe and drug-free capital city.

He further urged Abuja residents to shun drug abuse, avoid criminal activities, and support the police in their ongoing efforts to enhance security across the FCT.
