Workers of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) under the Joint Unions Action Committee (JUAC) on Monday morning closed the gates of the FCTA Secretariat located at No. 1 Kapital Road, Area 11, Garki, Abuja. The premises, which house the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, and the Agriculture and Food Security Minister, Senator Abubakar Kyari, were shut down as part of a nationwide strike action led by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).

As early as 8 a.m., workers, complying with the strike directive, locked the gates and blocked them with vehicles, effectively halting operations at the secretariat.

The Federal Government has labeled the strike as "premature, ineffectual, and illegal," stating that Organised Labour did not meet all statutory requirements and International Labour Organisation (ILO) principles before declaring the industrial action. Additionally, the government highlighted a subsisting court order prohibiting Labour from embarking on the strike, which remains unvacated.
