A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the remand of Mrs. Tosin Comfort Olagunju, an official of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), in Suleja prison. The decision, made by Justice Binta Nyako, follows her arraignment on a four-count charge involving obtaining N12,400,000.00 from job seekers under false pretenses.
Mrs. Olagunju, who resides in Karu Site, Abuja, pleaded not guilty to the charges, which were filed by the Inspector General of Police. The charges include allegations of obtaining money by false pretense and conspiracy to commit fraud. Following her plea, the prosecuting lawyer, Princewill Eke, requested a trial date, while the defense lawyer, M. A. Oloniruka, attempted to file a bail application.

Justice Nyako rejected the defense's oral application for bail, emphasizing that all applications must be formally submitted in writing. The court has scheduled the bail hearing for October 9, with Mrs. Olagunju remaining in custody until then.
The charges against Mrs. Olagunju detail multiple instances of fraud and conspiracy between 2010 and 2023, during which she allegedly promised job seekers employment with the NSCDC in exchange for money. The case underscores the serious nature of the allegations and the legal proceedings to follow.
