Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, has announced the Federal Government’s renewed commitment to completing the East-West Road project to unlock the economic potential of the South-South geo-political zone. During an on-site assessment of section II: Kaiama-Ahoada in Rivers/Bayelsa State, Umahi emphasized the Bola Tinubu administration's dedication to providing lasting infrastructure, particularly roads, to support regional development.

Umahi noted that President Tinubu introduced advanced construction measures to address years of infrastructural neglect and pavement failures on the East-West Road. The project, which includes the construction of multiple box culverts at flood-damaged locations, has been redesigned using reinforced concrete technology. This redesign aims to address the unique environmental and soil characteristics of the Niger Delta, which have historically contributed to road failures.
