A final-year student of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State, has sadly lost his life in a motorcade accident while celebrating the completion of his final exams.
According to reports, he was part of a convoy of fresh graduates who hit the highway on Monday, shortly after their signing-out ceremony. Witnesses said the students were driving recklessly and ignored basic safety rules during the celebration.
The tragedy struck when the young graduate tried to overtake a moving truck but crashed into a stationary vehicle parked by the roadside.
The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Edo State, Cyril Mathew, confirmed the incident on Tuesday. He stated that one person died and five others sustained different injuries.

“The students, after writing their last paper, took to the road in a convoy. In the process, one of them overtook another vehicle and rammed into a stationary truck,” he said.
Mathew urged students to prioritize safety and avoid dangerous celebrations after exams. He advised them to celebrate within campus areas and reminded them that “there is life after graduation.”
