Five additional players have arrived at the Super Eagles camp in Uyo as Nigeria prepares for their 2026 FIFA World Cup MatchDay 3 fixture against South Africa. The players, including Semi Ajayi, Calvin Bassey, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Frank Onyeka, and Paul Onuachu, joined the team, bringing the total number of players in camp to 20.
According to Promise Efoghe, the Team Media Officer, the players arrived at the Victor Attah International Airport in Uyo via a private jet arranged by the Nigeria Football Federation. They were then driven to the team’s hotel, Ibom Hotel and Resorts, in time for lunch and to meet up with their teammates.
The team faced some logistical challenges yesterday as only 15 players were able to train due to the organized labour strike that affected domestic flights. However, the remaining three players, Ademola Lookman, Alex Iwobi, and goalkeeper Maduka Okoye, are expected to join the team later today.
The Super Eagles are gearing up for a crucial match against South Africa and will be looking to secure a victory to boost their chances of qualifying for the World Cup.
