The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a woman identified as Ada Clement for allegedly running a baby factory in Ore, the headquarters of Odigbo Local Government Area.
According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, five pregnant underage girls were rescued from the illegal facility. Investigations revealed that the suspect sold babies for as much as ₦400,000 and above for female infants, and ₦600,000 and above for male infants. One of the victims had reportedly delivered a baby boy inside the facility before police intervention.
Ayanlade said the case was transferred from the Ore Division to the command’s Gender-Based Violence Unit for further investigation.
The incident came to light on October 21, 2025, when a 17-year-old pregnant girl, Vivian Peter from Akwa Ibom State, escaped from the facility and reported the matter to the police. She said she had been trafficked to Ore under the guise of a job offer, only to be taken to a so-called clinic that turned out to be a baby factory.
According to her, several other pregnant girls were also being held there. She managed to escape when the suspect, Ada Clement, sent her for a medical scan at another hospital.
Police officers from the Ore Division, in collaboration with the Gender-Based Violence Unit, later raided the facility, rescuing five pregnant girls and a baby boy. One of the rescued victims, who had just given birth, is currently receiving medical care at the General Hospital in Ore, while others are under police protection.

Preliminary investigations showed that Clement and her accomplices confessed to operating the baby factory, keeping the young girls until they delivered, and then selling their babies to willing buyers.
The state Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, has ordered a full investigation to track down and arrest other members of the syndicate who are still at large.
Detectives from the command’s Gender-Based Violence Unit are said to be intensifying efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects and bring them to justice.
