Daniel Bwala, a former spokesman for the Atiku-Okowa Presidential Campaign Council, has suggested that the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, may have a chance to become President in 2039. Bwala made this assertion in a post on his official X page, highlighting the political dynamics and age factor.
According to Bwala, for Obi to have a shot at the presidency, President Bola Tinubu would have to complete two terms, followed by power shifting back to the north for another eight years before returning to the south. This timeline would place Obi in a position to vie for the presidency in 2039, at the age of 79 or older.
Bwala emphasized that by 2039, Obi's message would shift from being the "younger candidate" to focusing on capacity and experience, as age would no longer be a major factor for consideration.
He concluded by highlighting the irony that the same individuals who currently champion youthfulness in politics would themselves become elders by 2039.
