The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has rolled out an extensive deployment of personnel and resources ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration to ensure safer roads across Nigeria. At a press briefing held at the corps headquarters in Abuja on Friday, Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed disclosed the deployment of 184 personnel, 743 patrol vehicles, 184 administrative vehicles, 92 ambulances, 23 tow trucks, and 144 motorbikes. This initiative aims to mitigate road traffic crashes and swiftly respond to emergencies during the festive period.
In addition to the physical resources, the FRSC has equipped its operations with tyre pressure gauges, extricating machines, and digital breathalyzers nationwide. The special operations will focus on reducing fatalities, providing prompt assistance to crash victims, conducting public education campaigns, and ensuring smooth traffic flow by promptly clearing obstructions on highways.

Mohammed emphasized the strategic positioning of 15 traffic control camps to manage traffic congestion effectively. He highlighted the use of over 200 Mobile Courts to address various traffic offenses such as speeding, dangerous driving, lane indiscipline, and the illegal use of spy number plates. Beyond Eid celebrations, the FRSC plans to integrate more technology to minimize direct interactions between drivers and personnel, enhancing enforcement efficiency.
Furthermore, the corps intends to intensify surveillance to curb unprofessional conduct among drivers, particularly those using trailers for human and animal transportation. Collaboration with the Nigeria Bar Association and State Judiciaries will ensure swift prosecution through mobile court operations for offenders, reinforcing adherence to traffic regulations across the country.
